So what makes you money in the vending business?

The magic ingredient is you! A simple scenario, you have three snack machines. You pay a locating company to place these machines, and you run around town collecting money and re-filling them. After about 6 weeks of doing this you realize that the amount you collect each week is barely worth it for the running around you do so you decide to sell the machines and chalk it up to the vending industry just wasn't for you.

With this example you're involvement in the business is more or less an employee. You'd be doing the same thing with the same level of involvement if you worked for the large vending company in your town.  How can you turn this around? Simple, your vending businesses success depends on you. Your job is to place machines, and provide the best customer service possible. Are the machine placement company's interests in you? Nope, they get paid whether your machines make money or not, the profitable accounts are dug up from your hard work, networking, and sales abilities.

So what more can you do to have your best shot at success?

Don't use a placement company to get locations. It's not the nicest part of the job, but everything is sales. You need to network, watch new businesses moving in, new developments. Let everyone know the business your in, you never know who's office is having difficulty with their current supplier, or who's brother is moving to a new office down the street.

Take care of the accounts you have. It can be easy to become complacent with your current accounts, you have them, each week there's money in the machine you fill it back up and away you go. Remember your best account is your competitor's number one prospect. Always interact with employees at your locations, find out if the location is satisfied with its mix of product in your machine. Let them know who you are, leave your contact info on your machine.

Last but not least always look professional. Remember what you're supplying may not be the most important part of a companies inputs, but there are also others that can do it. By handling yourself and appearing professional in dress and behavior you increase the chances of earning referrals to new locations, new machines at current locations, and decrease turn over. It's always less expensive to keep a customer then to gain a new one!

In the workforce, we consider ?being promoted? as earning more and working less.  With the same mindset regarding the Internet, if you want to earn more and work less, you're going to have to start creating income streams that do not require your direct involvement:  Immediate-Leveraged-Income.

Let's pause here to differentiate between linear income and leveraged income.

Linear income is money you make through direct sales, or by working a 40 hour week and being paid a salary.  Doctors and lawyers earn a higher linear income than say, a dressmaker or pizza chef.  But it's a fact: we all have a maximum of 24 hours a day which limits the amount of money even doctors and lawyers can personally generate.

Linear income is trading your time for money.  Leveraged income is your money working for you.  With the right business, by making one sale you've set into motion a chain of events that adds to your income and a new ?pay line? has been generated.  In the perfect scenario, this continues without end.

For leveraged-income to work smoothly it cannot consider an MLM type of program because of the attrition factor.  These programs necessarily require you to constantly backup and repair the 'leaky-bucket? syndrome.  This cuts short a pay line, often permanently.  Besides, small commissions result in small ?pay lines?.

Search for companies that offer leveraged-incomes and compensation plans that pay a minimum of $1,000 per sale.  If the commission isn't jaw-dropping, why bother?

Would it be difficult to find one person a month to join you in a program like this?  Just one per month who might be interested in learning about leveraged-income and enjoy more leisure time while controlling his/her own  paycheck?

Do you know what happens when you double a penny every day for a month? At the 15-day mark, it's grown to $163.84. But by the 30th day, it's mushroomed to OVER 5 MILLION dollars!

Note that I stated the current date at the beginning of the message, (which you will naturally change every day) because it immediately told the caller that we were open, checking messages, and had appointments available that day.  By adding this information to your answering machine or voicemail system (I use Verizon), you should see an immediate increase in the number of messages left on your machine.

The first thing to remember about computers

Third, you need to protect your computer.  On the most basic level, that means a surge protector.  A power surge can quickly fry the delicate insides of a computer and suddenly realizing that you need a new computer is just about the worst computer stress of all.

As well, you need to protect your computer from outside interference.  If your computer is hooked up to the Internet, protect it with a network firewall and anti-virus software.  There are plenty of malicious hackers out there and they tend to enjoy watching people panic about their computers suddenly dying.  These hackers write viruses and worms that can infect your machine and delete important files or send out malicious emails all on their own.  You do not want to have your computer taken over like this.  Save yourself from this sort of computer stress by keeping your system and your files secure from outside attackers.

Another way to protect your computer is to shut it down properly.  Many people simply hit the power button without shutting down the machine first.  This is a serious danger, as it can damage the delicate circuits of the computer.  Run your computer through its shutdown system and wait until it either turns itself off, or it tells you that it is time to turn it off.  This may not seem like a big deal to some, but it can damage your computer in the long run.

Computer stress can also simply arise from sitting in front of the silly thing so long that you realize  you do not know what you are looking at any more.  You know you need to get work done on the silly machine, but you haven't gotten anything done and the deadline is looming and you need more time, but there isn't any and? just slow down.  If you are not getting anything done, they save yourself some computer stress by walking away.  If you are at work, lock your screen and wander the hallways for a bit.  If you are at home, get up and go make yourself a sandwich or something.  Just walk away and you will save yourself a lot of stress over something that is really not a big deal.

One of the problems with living in the computer age is, simply, the computer.  However, it is only a machine and you can learn to control it without it controlling you.  Your computer is a tool no different than a hammer or a crowbar.  So save yourself from computer stress and you won't feel compelled to use a hammer or a crowbar on the computer that is supposed to make your life easier.
